Sophie Alpert

Sophie Alpert is the founder of the nonprofit Piece by Piece, which offers mosaic workshops free of charge for residents in underserved communities in Los Angeles. Through sales of artwork, Piece by Piece aims to help provide supplemental income to the residents so that they can be empowered and earn marketable skills to improve their self-esteem and their situations in life. Prior to Piece by Piece she was the Development Director for Para Los Ninos, a non-profit day care center in Skid Row, before founding Piece by Piece, a social enterprise arts organization in 2007. In addition to her ongoing leadership of Piece by Piece, Sophie is involved with organizations helping to raise awareness and seek solutions for individuals experiencing homelessness, including Valley Beth Shalom Temple’s Homelessness Task Force and YPO.
