NOLA KAMBANDA
DIRECTOR OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AT THE BOEING COMPANY

Nola Kambanda was born in Rwanda and lived in Burundi a few years after a failed Hutu rebellion in 1972 left 10,000 Tutsi and 150,000 Hutu dead. Nola made her way to the U.S. and studied at Los Angeles City College. During her time at LACC, she performed traditional Rwandan dances at local cultural events with five other dancers to alert Southern Californians to the horrors and raise money to help the victims and their families.

ASITANG MISHRA

Asitang Mishra is a Senior Data Scientist at NASA, Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He has spent the last 6 years developing Machine Learning solutions for JPL and worked on providing ML expertise on JPL collaborations with DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), DHS (Department of Homeland Security) and National Cancer Institute. He takes great pleasure in creating and working with algorithms and techniques involving Graph Theory, Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval amongst others, and dabbles in creating interactive visualizations. In his free time he loves to spend time cooking and doing nature photography. (Watch his TedX talk on "Demystifying Data Science" to know more about his work and Data Science in general.)

Kat Young, one year into her first full-time job, works at Microsoft at the intersection of software engineering and data science. After graduating with a bachelor’s in computer science and playing on the volleyball team at the University of Virginia, she utilized her extra year of NCAA eligibility to play one more year and also earn her master’s in computer science (with a concentration in data science) from Virginia Commonwealth University. While in college, Kat interned as a machine learning engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), and as a developer at Data Works. She is extremely passionate about the field of AI and the ways it can be used to support good causes.
