The Verge, at Vox Media, is looking for a Space Reporter to join their science team!
They are looking for someone interested in keeping up with the fast-paced realm of space who can maintain The Verge’s industry-leading coverage. Whether reporting on distant galaxies, exploding rockets, or up-and-coming space startups, space stories are a core part of their coverage.
About the Job

What you'll do:
Write and publish at least one story a day, whether it’s a blog post, a longer report, or a feature
Come up with fresh, sharp angles on space news and keep the team aware of major developments that are relevant to The Verge’s audience
Report news out as necessary, on tight deadlines, which includes making calls, asking tough questions, and pursuing a story aggressively
Approach learning from your editors with openness and enthusiasm
Who you are:
You have a proven track record covering the science and business of space, particularly on news or breaking stories
You possess strong storytelling capabilities, and the ability to tell the difference between a story and a topic
You have the demonstrated ability to transform scientific studies and complex ideas into interesting and understandable stories, with an eye toward the audience’s interests and needs
You have an interest in our other coverage areas, and a willingness to find the science story in entertainment, transportation, or technology
Nice to have, but not required:
3+ years reporting in the science space
Experience on camera
